What are historic parades?
Historic parades are processions that serve as one part of a festival. They feature costumes from a range of eras, from the Kofun (Tumulus) period of ancient Japan to the early Showa era. These processions, also known as historical festivals or samurai processions, aim to recreate the attire of each era with attention to historical accuracy.
Especially in recent years, many such events have been held to promote tourism, and depend on local historical resources to attract visitors.
Unlike traditional local religious festivals, these processions tend to be held with fewer religious restrictions and greater flexibility, allowing for more elaborate and visually striking events designed to draw crowds.
